    Default 1g-gte 1887 or 88 supra 2jz conversion

    g'day

just picked up a 1g-gte supra - was stolen n had turbos ripped off it got it al cop auctions.

will a 2jz engine bolt straight in ?

is the running gear the same between the 2jz and the 1g-gte ?? or will i need all new running gear to suit the 2jz ?

no a 2jz will not bolt straight in

no the running gear is not the same between the 1g-gte and the 2jz as the 2jz didnt come out in that car...

1 you won't be able to sell the 1ggte cause they're worth nothing

2 an engine and gearbox package or a 2jz if you want a 6 speed manual will cost you no less than 8K for one worth having that has wiring loom computer, block, turbos, gearbox etc

More realistically if you were trying to be cheap you would keep it auto so you could buy an aristo halfcut for peanuts.

Once you start messing around with getrag/manual tt's in general prepare to be arse fucked, its the simple fact of owning a supra.

Man those 1Gs have been around for alot longer than I realised!

Anyways, no theyre not exactly the same but if your car is manual its reasonably easy to get a JZ working with your existing gearbox (W58), although a 2JZ-GTE will destroy it pretty quickly.

More info on your exact car and budget needed before further advice can be offered.

    And yeah......wrong section.

    this is for a mk3...
you dont put 6 speeds in mk3s (not saying it cant be done but from a feasibility side of things you dont)

    you use R154s

    1. No theyre not, people just dont put them in Supras. Theyre quite sort after in certain circles. (Although still not worth a fortune)

    2. Theyre around if you know where to look. Given time I could get a full aristo halfcut AND a full V160 conversion package for less than $8k.

    3. Its not necessarily more realistic to keep it auto with an aristo halfcut, they come with their own challenges.

    4. V160s arent the only option.

    5. Im guessing you have no experience in this area.
