Default Official NSWSC Eastern Creek Track Day

NSW SUPRA CLUB (INCORPORATED) TRACK DAY
    - EASTERN CREEK -
    SATURDAY, 28 MARCH 2009

This date is 100% confirmed & booked. The event is open to NSW Club Members only – both to drivers and visitors. A very limited number of spots are available so be quick.

For those of you with track day experience, you will know that booking Eastern Creek is hard yards… getting a weekend date some say is “impossible” but we have done it!!!! Places have been secured and locked in!

This will be a professionally run event and will involve 6 driver instructors (across all groups) including John "Bozzman" Boston of Ian Luff Motivation Australia. Recognised as one of the best driver trainers in Australia, Bozz has a mountain if experience which no doubt will be enthusiastically shared with us.

    Details

o Cost is $275.00 per person
o The day will have official timing
o 11 positions have been secured
    o 15 minute sessions
o Garage for every position (at no additional cost)
o There will be classroom sessions for Newbies

The Eastern Creek track, being a fast track, will be much easier on the cars. Members are encouraged to run at their own pace. The car does not need to be modified and the NAs will perform just fine.

Other groups cars include a brand spanking new “white” Ferrari F430 as well as a host of other Ferrari’s, BMW M5 and M3’s, 450hp turbo Lotus Exige and some of Stuttgart’s finest Porsches. There will also be some of NSW fastest street registered Evo's and STi’s as well as some big horsepower GTR skylines and some super fast old-school Datsun’s. This day is set to be a a real cracker!!

    Visitors

And for those Members that are keen but don’t have the budget, we have secured special approval for Club Members to come along as visitors to actually join in the classroom sessions, access the Club’s garages and fully interact with Members that are running throughout the day. So if you don’t want to run, come along anyway – but you will need to register below. For those that do come as visitors, there may be a special treat for you but we’ll just have to wait and see.

    Itinerary

o 8.00am sharp - all drivers are to be ready for the on-track briefing. This will include a group drive onto the track with an instructor with an out of car inspection of conditions for each corner. The instructor will explain the best approach to apex’s and braking markers.
o 9.00am sharp - the experienced drivers group will start their first session.
o 9.00am sharp the newbie groups will go into the upstairs rooms and receive further instruction about the track and how to get the most out of it as safe as possible.
o 9.20am the newbie’s driver training sessions upstairs will have finished and the second group will be out on the track.
o Group sessions will run all day and will not be stopping for lunch.

Here's an FAQ. I will add to this if there are further questions.

Do I need to have a fast car to come attend a track day?
No… a lot of the cars that attend are daily driven stock standard cars. The main thing is that you car needs to be in sound mechanical condition.

What should I have checked before I attend a track event?
Any mechanic will tell you that regardless of driving on the track, your car should be in sound condition anyway, but before going onto the track… you should have your mechanic check your brakes, suspension and all the vehicles fluids as well as the tyres and seat belts. Although on track conditions are fundamentally similar to the driving you do on the road, more strenuous braking and steering loads on the track, can highlight weaknesses and it is important to have them checked.

Do I need to have my own helmet?
Most tracks have them for hire, check with any of the instructors who can help out.

Do I need a race suit?
No, but you will need to have long sleeve pants and shirt on, with fully enclosed shoes.

Do I have to have a CAMS license?
No, but you do have to have a valid Australian drivers license. At some tracks you will also be required to purchase a license for the day which helps the track provide limited indemnity. A license will not be required at the Eastern Creek event.

Is my car still insured if I am on the track?
NO, it is a well known fact that as your vehicle is on a race track. Your insurance is deemed invalid.

    Update:

    18-12-08
Existing slots have filled up in less than 24 hours! THERE ARE NO PROMISES but if Members place their name on the reserve list and we get to a further 14 drivers quickly, I will liaise with the events coordinator to see if we can get an additional group. If it is possible to do this, the second group will need to pay by 31 December 2008 to minimise my financial exposure. Remember, no promises but there is a chance.

    20-12-08
Have spoken to the organiser and all groups are allocated so unfortunately there will be no second group. You should still put your name on the reserve list but you will only get a run where there is a drop out or there are some additional slots allocated by the organiser closer to the event.

    20-01-09
All members on the list have now paid so there have been no withdrawals. There are four on the reserve list and whilst all allocated slots have been taken, there were some additional slots reserved for media (at least one or two) which I am hopeful that we can get our hands on. Should know this week so fingers crossed!!

So now that the pain of parting with our hard earned moolah is behind us lets start the count down...only 10 weeks to go...so let's do a warm up lap...(watch all cause the back end is the best).

    Payment details:

For those that are on the Drivers list and are not current members, please register and pay your club membership fees by 31 December 2008. There is a PayPal facility on the NSWSC site and there are clear instructions on how to join. http://www.supra.org.au/membership.htm

Details of the NSWSC Club Account are as follows:

    Account Name: SYDNEY SUPRA CLUB
    BSB: 182-222

The members list will be cross-checked over the New Years break and non-members will be removed from the list.

Actually Dave I just re-read the thing about visitors, is it possible to bring people (I actually have my girl and another person now) to come as non-participating visitors/spectators?
